Egyptians Arrest Christian for Praying

On October 24th, Egyptian State Security a Christian in the village of Deir Samalout, Samalout, Minia province, for praying without a license. The 37-year-old man, identified as Maurice Salama Sharkawy, had invited a pastor over to pray for his sick father, who had suffered a stroke. Egyptian security forces broke into his house during the prayers, handcuffed him and arrested him. He was held in prison for two days before being released on “compassionate grounds.” He was accused on conducting “religious rites without a license.”
