Homosexual activists in the state of New Jersey are pushing for the quick passage of a gay “marriage” bill before current Governor Corzine vacates the position later this month and is replaced by governor-elect Chris Christi, who has said he would veto a gay marriage bill.  The state Senate is slated to vote Thursday on the measure.  The sad part about this article is 150 clergy members from various faiths have lobbied to approve the bill before Republican Christi takes office later this month.

Gay Marriage Defeated in Maine

The referendum on the ballot during yesterday’s vote in the state of Maine to allow same-sex marriage was defeated by a majority vote of 53% against.  As I read the article linked below, I saw references to “equality” when discussing one’s desire to marry someone of the same sex.  There is no real equality in this issue; only special rights are desired to be won.  Today, everyone has the exact same right, and that is to marry someone of the opposite sex.  Those in the gay/lesbian/transgender/bi-sexual crowd want special rights to bring official recognition to their deplorable lifestyles, which are abominations before the Lord (Romans 1:26-27).  One interesting note, and this gives me hope that America won’t go down without a fight:  the article says in all states that have had a referendum vote on same-sex, it has failed — 30 states in all.  The only states that have approved same-sex marriage are those in which it was not approved by popular vote.

Obama Signs Hate Crimes Bill into Law

I knew this was coming.  After Congressional approval of the hate crimes bill, which was packaged together with the 2010 fiscal year Defense Authorization Bill, President Barack Obama signed it into law.  The law gives equal protection to homosexuals under the law — effectively putting them above the law by declaring them a special class of people — and makes it a crime to discriminate against them based on sexual identity and persuasion.  While the bill did include a provision to prevent prosecution of individuals based on beliefs, many Christians are concerned the bill will silence Biblically-based messages.

Homosexualism at Canadian Human Rights Museum

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, (1 Peter 3:3). In these last days of planet Earth as we know it, scoffers and mockers of the word of God have come, walking after their own lusts just as Peter predicted two thousand years ago. A soon-to-be-opened Museum of Human Rights in Canada is going to give the homosexual agenda a “vital voice,” according to the head of the museum, Stuart Murray. The project, which was funded by various sources including $100 million from the federal government, is expected to open in 2012. Murray vowed before a gathering of the homosexual community in Winnipeg on Sunday night that they would have a ”voice at the table,” and that “sexual orientation would be a theme and will be explored in the museum.”

NY Governor Paterson Wants Same-Sex Marriage Bill Vote

New York Governor David Paterson has called a special session of the state’s legislature to tackle budget deficit woes. During the session, however, the governor has sought to have a same-sex marriage bill voted on in the next few weeks. If passed, the bill would make New York the seventh state to legalize same-sex marriage. Some, however, see the bill vote as a way for the governor to maintain his political presence as polls show him trailing considerably to Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, a potential match-up in the upcoming primary. Passage of the bill may help Paterson, according to the article, rescue his political standing with the homosexual lobby.

Congress Extends Homosexual Hate-Crimes BIll

The United States Congress has passed an updated hate-crimes bill that includes protections for crimes committed against homosexuals and has given it to President Barack Obama for signatory approval. The bill was changed, however, at the urging of Republicans to provide provisions for religious leaders who now cannot be prosecuted on the basis of “his or her speech, beliefs, or association.” However, some conservative Christian groups feel this is not enough, and this bill could be used to “marginalize anyone whose faith is at odds with homosexuality,“ according to Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council.

Toronto Lands 2014 “World Pride” Event

Toronto, Canada, has landed the World Pride event, a pro-homosexual festival, in 2014. Mark Singh, chairman of the Toronto World Pride committee remarked, “the advent of a festival like this is an opportunity to highlight the acceptance of the queer community by Canadians.” This is the fourth scheduled World Pride event, but only one has actually taken place – in Rome in 2000. A scheduled event in Jerusalem in 2006 was cancelled after uproar from Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders. A London-based event is scheduled for 2012 just prior to the olympics. Regardless of its location, the event further demonstrates the depravity of a segment of the world’s population as they go after their own fleshly lusts rather than believing in the unchangeable word of God.

California Now Recognized Out-of-State Same-Sex Marriages

Even after voters passed Proposition 8 last November, which forced the state of California to only recognize marriage between a man and a woman, Governor Schwarzenegger signed Senate Bill 54 into law earlier this week, allowing for the state to recognize out-of-state same-sex marriages. The new law will recognize same-sex marriages as legal “unions” which are afforded “the same respect and dignity accorded a union traditionally designated as marriage” and the “same rights, protections, and benefits, and shall be subject to the same responsibilities, obligations, and duties under law…with the sole exception of the designation of ‘marriage.’” The slippery slope on which California sits is only getting steeper and pointing away from God’s holy words.

Obama Critical of ‘Old Values’ About Homosexuality

President Obama and his family were recently spotted leaving St. John’s Episcopal Church, yet Obama recently delivered the keynote address to the Human Rights Campaign in which he criticized people who hold to “old attitudes” about homosexuality. Obama also praised the passage of the homosexual hate crimes bill in the House last Thursday and said he was preparing to sign the bill in to law once it passes Congress. As followers of Christ, we are to hate the sin and love the sinner, but I have to question Obama’s apparent “buffet-style” belief in God’s word. All scripture is given for inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, according to 2 Timothy 3:16. That’s all scripture, not bits and pieces that are suitable for anyone’s unbiblical beliefs.

Hate Crimes Bill in House Could Extend to Cover Homosexuality

Update:  the hate crimes bill passed in the House.  Now on to the Senate with the expectation that President Obama will sign it into law prior to his keynote address at the Human Rights Campaign dinner, a homosexual advocacy group.

The hate crimes bill currently being voted on in the U.S. House of Representatives has a particular nuance that disturbs some members of the GOP: its coverage is extended to protect sexual orientation. The law, first enacted after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., would allow for federal prosecutors to intervene in cases of violence against homosexuals based on their sexual orientation. GOP members consider the religious protections afforded in the bill “flimsy,” and worry that pastors could be prosecuted if the content of their sermons could be tied back to an act of violence against a gay person.
